Sir, Your readers will not have missed recent reports in all the media that highlighted the very difficult tasks being faced by our soldiers who are deployed on operations particularly in Iraq and Afghanistan. Welsh soldiers, both regular and territorial, have and continue to serve in these countries. Many of the articles commented on the extraordinary level of bravery and professionalism being displayed daily and the stark reality of the numbers being wounded and maimed (both physically and mentally). Some, of course, are being killed. The Army Benevolent Fund exists to help soldiers, former soldiers and their families who are in need and the charity has seen a significant upsurge in requests for help in the last six months. Sadly, many of those wounded will need welfare support for years to come. May I appeal to your readers to make a donation in support of the ABF in time for Christmas? We owe our soldiers so much, but most people do not know how they can make a difference; a donation is but one way and the money will be used quickly and efficiently to help those who need it most. If you can help, please send your donations for The Army Benevolent Fund to me at the address below. Thank you.
Lieutenant Colonel Charlie Nutting,
Army Benevolent Fund, HQ 160 (Wales) Brigade, The Barracks, Brecon, LD3 7EA.
