Sir, May I once again, through the medium of your columns, appeal to the ever-generous folk of Tenby and district for their support of this year's Poppy Appeal (Poppy Day being November 11). The Poppy Appeal provides the life-blood of the welfare services of the Royal British Legion, calls upon which increase by the day. The Flanders Poppy was chosen as a memorial to those thousands who gave their all in that terrible 'War for Civilisation' (1914-1919), and has since been adopted to remember those who have given their all in the Second World War and other conflicts. Once again, unfortunately, the forces of the Crown are engaged in difficult operations abroad - they will not fail us - we must not fail them. Please give generously and wear your Poppy with pride. We will remember them.
Wilfred Hardy, President, Royal British Legion, Tenby,
