Friends of the Jubilee Park treasurer has welcomed the boost that the recent Pembrokeshire County Council grant has provided towards the play park project.

Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown told her colleagues at Tuesday night's meeting of the town council that the £20,000 from the authority's Community Regeneration Fund, had been "wonderful" welcome news for the scheme to enhance the play park overlooking the South Beach.

She said that she hoped a meeting scheduled with some of the town's skateboarders this week would throw up more fundraising ideas, with a skate-a-thon being lined up.

"We've written to as many sources as we can for funding and it's just a case of getting the money to mount up bit by bit to meet the cost of the scheme," said Clr. Mrs. Brown.

The town clerk, Mr. Andrew Davies, said that he was optimistic that the 'Sports Wales' organisation might also be able to assist with funding, if the skateboarding element of the play park introduced some form of training scheme for its users.

"The closer we get to the total funds needed for the scheme, then the more achievable it will be," he said.
