Following concern expressed by a local councillor that recent enhancement works in Tenby's High Street were proving dangerous for pedestrians, Pembrokeshire County Council are to look at ways of making the area safer.

Clr. Mrs. Kerri Durham told her colleagues at the last meeting of Tenby Town Council that the raised section of road introduced on the street between St. Nicholas Lane and Bank Lane, was proving hazardous for people crossing.

Following her comments, Clr. Mike Evans had discussed the matter with the county council, who had identified the blind area in crossing from the left-hand side of the street, as one of the public houses protruded further than other premises on that side.

"Due to the nature of the construction of the buildings on that side of the High Street, it appears to cause a problem for pedestrians crossing," Clr. Evans said at Tuesday night's meeting of the town council.

"I think that erecting a bollard would be a necessity in ensuring that people are not confronted by any cars that drive across the raised area," he stated, adding that the county council would take into account this matter during further enhancement works.
