Provisional plans are underway for a Christmas Fayre in Tenby as part of the town's festive celebrations.

Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown told her colleagues at the meeting of Tenby Town Council on Tuesday night that she had been in discussions with Tenby Chamber of Trade and Tourism and were looking at the weekend of December 10 and 11 for the event.

As well as a Christmas Fayre for local traders and craft makers in Tudor Square and High Street on the Saturday, where stalls will be set up and the road closed for a period of time, it has been agreed in principle for children from Tenby Infants School to hold a festive fancy dress parade in the town to coincide with the switching on of the Christmas tree lights and also welcome a visit from Santa Claus himself.

Discussions with the Lions Club have also seen consideration for the hiring of an ice-skating rink for the event, which will either be held outdoors or indoors, with a suitable venue yet to be decided upon.

"None of the plans are firm yet, as there are further meetings to be held, but I hope that the Chamber of Trade and town council can work together for this festive event, to achieve what Tenby needs," said Clr. Mrs. Brown.
