Plans for the development of the former Natwest bank building in the centre of Tenby have been welcomed by local councillors.

The application submitted by Mr. Neil Evans, of West Wales Properties Ltd, for a change of use of ground floor to A1 retail and extension into rear yard; a change of use of first floor to 1 residential flat; and alterations to north and west elevations to provide shopfronts and reinstatement of historic fenestration at the premises which is situated on Tudor Square came before members of Tenby Town Council at their meeting on Tuesday night.

Discussing the matter, Clr. Trevor Hallett welcomed the plans, stating that applications such as this ‘keep the town alive’.

His colleague, Clr. Tony Brown, agreed, commenting that the design proposals looked good and as the premises had been empty for a while, the plans would better the look of the town square.

Councillors approved the application unanimously, and their recommendation will be passed on to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority for consideration.

Tenby Civic Society also offered no objections to the proposals in correspondence that came before members of the town council.
