Councillors in Tenby have recommended refusal for the relocation and design alteration of a telecommunications mast located on one of the seaside town’s hotels.

The application (NP/23/0291/FUL) put forward by EE Limited to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority is for the relocation and renewed design (less impact) of a telecommunications mast, at Park Hotel on North Cliffe.

The proposed development is for an existing telecommunications array to be removed (dish, antennas, support poles and fixings) with the plant room made good and their replacement by two EE antennas, 2 0.6m dishes on support poles, 3 RRU’s, 1 BOB Mk2 and 1 router fixed to existing steel grillage.

Discussing the plans at this month's meeting of Tenby Town Council, members recommended refusal, feeling that, instead of creating less impact, the siting of equipment further towards the seafront aspect of the building, with its associated metalwork, will be more ‘visually intrusive’ from various viewpoints across the North Beach.

Consultee, Cadw - the historic environment service of the Welsh Government and part of the Tourism and Culture group, which works to protect the historic buildings and structures, the landscapes and heritage sites of Wales - has offered ‘no objection’ to the proposed development.

The application will be considered by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority’s development management committee at a later date.
