Plans for the ‘Cheescake Guy’ to open a store at an historic harbour-side building in Saundersfoot are being recommended for refusal by members of the Community Council.

In an application to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority (PCNPA), Craig Taylor of Merthyr Tydfil-based The Cheesecake Guy Ltd is seeking to introduce a small A1 retail unit at Cambrian Terrace’s Coal Building.

The proposed site is currently a mixed-use retail and gift shop, having previously been used as office space.

The proposals for a change of use of part of the interpretation centre, were recommended for refusal by members of Saundersfoot Community Council at their meeting in May.

Members’ objections are on the basis that the Harbour is diluting the original intention of this area, which was designed to be an educational section of the development.

Their views will be passed onto PCNPA, whose development management committee will determine the application at a later date.
