Councillors calling for crossing improvements to be made on a busy road into Tenby have had their request granted as plans are underway for work to be carried out in the area in the New Year.

Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby Town Council, town clerk Andrew Davies, told members that Pembrokeshire County Council had agreed to look at road safety improvements to the top of The Maudlins area coming up to a section of the Narberth Road.

Earlier in the year, local councillors had emphasised the need for work to be carried out to ensure the safety of local schoolchildren crossing in that area and elderly pedestrians.

Mr. Davies told councillors this week that the proposal of an improved crossing and footways, and a remodelling of the bus bay on Narberth Road, had been granted by PCC, with work set to take place over four to six weeks, at the start of next year.

Deputy Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane said she ‘welcomed’ the plans whilst her colleague Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter said that the improvements were “much needed”.
