Pembrokeshire County Council is reviewing its Local Development Plan (LDP) which is used to guide the development of land and determine planning applications.

The plan is being reviewed given the existing plan has been in place for more than four years.

This is a statutory requirement.

Initially, two documents will be prepared - a Delivery Agreement and Review Report.

Both documents are currently available for public consultation.

The Delivery Agreement sets out a Timetable for plan preparation and a Community Involvement Scheme that explains how to the Authority will involve local people and key stakeholders in plan preparation.

The authority anticipates that preparing a Replacement Local Development Plan will take four years. The revised plan should be adopted in 2021.

The Replacement LDP will then run until 2033.

The Review Report sets out the information the Authority has collected on how the LDP is currently performing.

It identifies which parts of the LDP might need to change and why.

Details of how the plan will be changed are not included in the Review Report. These will be published later in the plan process, once further consultation and evidence gathering has taken place.

Pembrokeshire County Council’s cabinet approved the draft Delivery Agreement and the Review Report on November 6.

They have now been published for public consultation.

Anyone interested in being involved in the LDP process should contact the Authority as part of this consultation, to ensure their details are added onto the database of interested parties.

Consultation on the two documents will run until 5 pm on January 5.

The documents have been published under ‘current consultations’ on the LDP pages of the council’s website - https://www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/local-development-plan.
