A new construction company is being sought to complete a Milford Haven development – with its value increasing around £1million – stalled by a building firm going into administration.

Pembrokeshire County Council is re-rendering for the proposed development of 15 council flats and office space at Charles Street, which had been granted planning permission in early 2020.

A previous invitation to tender led to the appointment of WRW Construction Ltd, but the company entered into administration in July 2021 before work had stated on the site.

A delegated decision has been approved to invite new tenders for this work with the estimate value of this procurement £3.5million, around a million pound more than the 2020 tender with an estimate value of procurement of £2.65million.

The building has been designed to “provide a pleasing place to live with informal communal spaces and flats orientated to provide an open friendly atmosphere,” an accompanying report states, with a mix of one and two-bedroom flats.

“It aims to improve living standards and once complete will provide much needed affordable homes in Pembrokeshire,” it states, adding the flats will be adaptable in line with the Lifetime Homes Standards.

Cabinet member for housing Clr. Michelle Bateman is asked to approve the invitation and evaluation of tenders and to delegate the decision to award the contract to the director of social services and housing, Jonathan Griffiths.
