Just days to save Tenby’s last green space!

More pressure and chaos - is this what you want? The beautiful fields of Brynhir are about to become a concrete jungle.

• Are you worried about climate change and flooding?

• Are you fed up with summer congestion and dangerous roads?

• Are you concerned about the wanton destruction of trees, hedgerows and green spaces?

• Are you fed up with politicians thinking they know best and making irrevocable decisions on your local area?

• Are you prepared for years of road delays with traffic lights around Bells Corner?

• Increased waiting times for Doctors and Dentist.

• Employment for an extra 200 people approximately

Do you know the facts about the proposed Brynhir development?

Have you asked your local councillor why they support this development? Did they tell you they want housing for Tenby people - they absolutely cannot promise that social housing goes to Tenby people. Priority to the homeless is given on a Pembrokeshire wide basis. There are many places in Pembrokeshire more suitable for development for social housing than this site which is difficult for a number of sound financial reasons, which is why no commercial developer was interested in taking it on. The council paid themselves £4 million for the land (which they already owned) to fix a black hole in their budget and now they want to spend millions more in developing this site for no good reason. In the financial study of 17/18 £16.1 million pounds of reductions need to be made. The education system (Greenhill School) is under special measures.

They are happy to spend millions of our money digging up trees and ancient hedgerows, contributing to the congestion and road safety issues on the Narberth Road. 144 houses housing around 450 people (represents a 10% increase in the town’s population) pouring hundreds of thousands of litres of sewerage and waste waster into the local system which will need to be enhanced. Concreting and tarmacing over green spaces which have never before been built on to cause more water run off and potential flooding - when was the last time you saw the Narberth Road dry? Especially around Bells Corner, Millions spent to build a mix of cheap characterless housing including highly visible 3 storey houses. We don’t know exactly what will be built yet as these are outline plans with matters reserved which means things could end being even worse. Tenby is a beautiful ancient walled town with a predominance of Georgian architecture, it’s only future is through tourism. Do you think the high end tourists who have money to spend will be attracted to come to a place where every inch of space is covered with modern characterless houses?

If you agree with us that this should stop here, now is the critical time to stop this as plans will go before the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park soon and there is now just a few days to make your views known.

Please join our local voices in demanding that the Pembrokeshire County Council withdraw this application and if they won’t, to demand that the National Park turns it down to protect our lovely town from the ravages of overdevelopment. This is not a case of “Not on our doorstep” this is a huge development of very high visibility on a beautiful piece of greenspace with potential for ongoing flooding issues and the destruction of our Wildlife and habitation Please consider these dire consequences.

NOW is the time to send your comments on planning application NP/19/0361/OUT , to Nicola Gandy at the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park at [email protected], just state the planning number in the subject and send your comments, please don’t delay your comments are needed ASAP.
