A meeting to discuss plans for a housing development at Brynhir is set to take place next month with Pembrokeshire County Council’s cabinet member for housing and regulatory services.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby town council, the town clerk Andrew Davies, told members that cabinet member for housing Clr. Pat Davies, had set a date of Monday, February 18, to take place at County Hall in Haverfordwest, to discuss where the Authority was at on proposals for the Brynhir site
Members of Tenby town council were informed last year that an outline planning application for the proposed housing development plan was likely to be put forward in February, after it was announced at a cabinet meeting that the housing scheme would be pushed forward by PCC after it ‘bought’ its own land using the housing revenue account (HRA).
The 15 acre site at Brynhir had been earmarked for 168 homes and marketed for sale but after no acceptable proposals were brought forward it was agreed by cabinet back in July of last year, that the land ‘be appropriated for HRA purposes’, and the land was listed as being disposed of for £4million.
Town councillors have spoken of their wish to see a mix of affordable and social housing for the land.
Mr. Davies told members that he along with Clr. Mike Evans had attended a meeting held last week of the ‘Save Brynhir Greenspace and Wildlife’ to discuss their concerns surrounding the sale of the land at Brynhir.
Mr. Davies explained that he was able to give the meeting an outline history of the land at Brynhir since 1987, and how it had been a part of the Local Development Plan since that time.

“Lots of concerns were raised by the group, relaying how they were concerned that one of the last green spaces of Tenby would be lost to a possible ‘second homes’ development, but myself and Clr. Evans informed them that the town council were working hard to ensure that wouldn’t be the case for this development,” he added.
