Sir,
There have been a couple of letters in recent editions expressing relief over the revised plans for the 'civic amenity site'. What they did not say strongly enough is that the site would have been placed next to the nursing home if it had been left to the county council and had not the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority refused to sanction its plans.
This is not the only case of late where the Park Authority has prevented the county council from damaging Tenby and its surroundings, and it is unlikely to be the last. Which may be why the county council is making a power grab for the planning function of the National Park.
The National Assembly is looking at the working of planning in Wales and one of the options on the table is to merge the National Parks planning functions into those of the relevant county councils. If you don't want this to happen, if in particular you want the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park to retain its ability to overrule the county council on planning matters in the Park, write to your Assembly Member.
Douglas Fraser,
Lexden Terrace,
Tenby.
