Tenby Pink Cups is a local charity which was set up to raise funds for the local Breast Care Centre in Llanelli. It was founded by Meinir Davies, Lesley Griffiths and Liz Rees, with kind support from Tenby Cottage Hospital staff.

So far they have raised over £3,000, starting with a very successful strawberry tea at Tenby Cottage Hospital two summers ago and an ongoing book stall.

This year, the Pink Cups are planning a summer barbecue at Tenby Bowling Club. It is to be held tomorrow (Saturday), from 4 pm onwards, and will include a hamper raffle and sale of t-shirts for their charity walk around the Tenby area on Friday, August 30, at 7 pm.

"We hope as many people as possible will attend and enjoy the afternoon event, which has been generously supported by Tenby Round Table," said Meinir. "It is for a very worthwhile cause and all support will be welcome."

The state-of-the-art Breast Care Centre at Llanelli has the best diagnostic and treatment service, also the most advanced equipment, with one of the first three-dimensional mammography services in the world. It is also one of the first in Europe to test for cancer gene activity.

It has mostly been paid for by charity, and the Pink Cups aim to continue supporting Mr. Holt's team at Llanelli for a condition which has affected many families in Pembrokeshire.
