Fecci's Fish and Chip Restaurant in Tenby has been rocked this week by an audacious royal kidnapping - or rather pie-napping.

Staff were shocked when a ransom demand was dropped into their Lower Frog Street restaurant on Monday from a gang claiming to have pie-napped Krusty the Pie King.

The six-inch high model was presented to Fecci's by Lewis Pies three years ago and usually holds court on top of the chippy's frying range.

However, it has not been seen for over a week.

"He was there when we started our annual shut down at the end of January, but was missing when we re-opened," explained Delmon Fecci.

"We thought he'd been mislaid in the upheaval, but then we received a ransom demand."

The demand, accompanied by a picture of a blindfolded Krusty, orders the Fecci's not to involve the police or he would be eaten, and is signed 'The Pie-nappers'.

"Our immediate thoughts were to call in Interpol," smiled Delmon, "but we were afraid that Krusty would end up 'battered'.

"We have our suspicions as to who may have pie-napped Krusty, but at the moment we're sitting tight waiting for further instructions from them in the hope we can get him back safe and well.

"Any information would be most welcome, just to know that he's still all right even. In the meantime, we're keeping a close eye on our customers to see if any of them turn up with gravy on their shirts!"
