Pendine Community Council have shared an update following an incident in the seaside village where a 22-year-old man fell from a cliff overlooking the beach, sustaining severe injuries. Emergency services, including the Wales Air Ambulance, coordinated the rescue operation on Saturday, June 6.

A spokesperson for the Community Council shared: “With the consent of all those involved, including the injured party, the following information is being shared to help prevent further speculation regarding the incident that occurred in Pendine on Saturday afternoon.

“A 22-year-old male, who was visiting the area on a weekend break with friends, was involved in an accident after falling from a cliff edge overlooking Pendine Beach.

“As a result of the significant fall, he sustained serious chest, facial and pelvic injuries.”

A major emergency response was launched involving multiple agencies, including - the Welsh Ambulance Service, HM Coastguard, Dyfed-Powys Police, and the Wales Air Ambulance.

Along with assistance of personnel of Pendine Community Council. The casualty received emergency treatment at the scene before being airlifted to Cardiff for specialist hospital care, including surgery.

“We are pleased to report that he is recovering well,” continued the spokesperson for the Community Council.

“The young man, along with his family and friends, would like to express their sincere gratitude to everyone involved in his rescue, treatment and ongoing care.

“Special thanks are extended to local resident Michaela Dance, an Emergency Nurse Practitioner, who was first on the scene and provided immediate assistance.

“The family are extremely thankful for the professionalism, skill and compassion shown by all emergency service personnel and those who assisted during the incident, helping to ensure their loved one received the urgent care he needed.

“Thankfully, despite the seriousness of the accident, the outcome has been positive, and everyone involved recognises that the situation could have been far worse,” they added.
