Dwr Cymru Welsh Water is all set to start an investment scheme on the drinking water network in Penally.

The scheme will ensure that customers continue to receive a top quality and reliable supply of water direct to their taps and will see old pipes replaced with new UPVC pipes.

The work, which will begin next Monday, January 30, is scheduled to last for 11 weeks and will take place along the main road through Penally, from Byeways to the junction with Penally Heights.

For the work to be carried out safely and quickly, it has been agreed with Pembrokeshire Highways Authority that the road will be closed while work is ongoing. Diversions will be clearly signposted and access will be maintained for residents and emergency services.

Graham Hughes, Welsh Water's western area distribution manager, said: "This work is vital to continue to provide a top quality supply of water to our customer's taps and will involve replacing pipes so that we can provide a clean and reliable supply of water for generations to come.

"The scheme is an important part of our overall investment plan to upgrade water mains across Wales and we assure customers that work will be done with the least amount of disruption as possible to their water supplies.

"We have liaised with Pembrokeshire Highways Authority in preparing for this scheme. We would ask the local community to bear with us during the course of the work and thank them in advance for their patience."
