Bridge Club: Penally Bridge Club has been gathering momentum and now regularly has four or more tables in play every Monday afternoon from 2 pm in the village hall.
However, it is in need of more actual tables of the green baize, folding variety. If anyone has such a table that they would be prepared to donate or sell at a reasonable price, Margaret Davies would be very happy to hear from you on 844416.
The club is open to novice or experienced players and new members are very welcome.
Karate Club: The Shotokan Karate Club for adults and children meets in the hall every Tuesday night at 6.30 pm. It is run by James Masterman and he is extending the club to include essential self defence classes for ladies and girls. If you want to join, call James on 07541348269.
Annual show: On Saturday, August 8, Penally is holding its annual Horticultural and Craft Show in the hall. It will be opened at 2.30 pm by Mr. Graham Doney, who was headmaster of the village school immediately prior to its sad closure. The village will be remembering the school with a ceremony of re-siting the old school bell in the hall.
Any further details about the show and the various classes can be obtained from leaflets in the village shop or from Jenny D'Arcy on 844169.
Newsletter: Crow News, the village newsletter, which will be delivered within the parish at the end of August, will contain details of all the clubs and activities which will resume or start in September. If anyone outside the delivery area would like to be kept up to date, please ring one of these numbers: Marcia on 842878, Judy on 844467 or Linda on 844727.
