With five tables in use on Monday and 27 boards played, only one doomed attempt at a slam was made, although the trick count on some boards suggests other opportunities were missed during the bidding.

This week's top performers were Elfrida Jones and Nova Husbands on 58.33 per cent, in second place were Christine Wilson with Derek (Tommo) Thompson on 56.94 and in third on 53.47 were Brenda Badham and Celia Rossiter.
