A Pembrokeshire based team has won the Euro Boss Formula 3000 Championship.
James Belton from Haverfordwest, driving a Reynard Cosworth 93D, clinched the championship with a win at Silverstone, despite stiff opposition from English, Irish and European based teams. With one remaining round at Le Mans, James cannot be beaten.
The car - a 500 horsepower, 190 mph single seater - is one of two in the championship prepared by Giles Beck from Carew. Giles's workshop in Pembroke Dock is busy preparing two other cars for the 2002 Euro Boss championship, as well as other racing, competition and performance cars.
Tenby based company Celvac are major supporters of the team.
The Euro Boss championship is open to Formula 1 and Formula 3000 cars built before 1998 and is one of the most spectacular motor sport championships in the world. Next year's championship will see rounds in Germany, France, Holland, Belgium, Ireland and the UK. James plans to move into the Formula 1 class with a Tyrrell Judd V 10.
