With Tenby needing a good start to stamp their authority on this match, the first singles saw Kevin James play D. Doyle.
Kevin started the stronger, opening up a good early lead, but as the game progressed, his opponent started to catch up, before Kevin started to pot some balls again to stretch his lead to 18 points. But this game was not over by a long way and with only a few crucial colours remaining, Kevin found himself behind. It was time to show his mettle, and this he did. By the pink he was again in front and went on to close the game out by a four-point margin.
The second frame was a doubles match between Tenby's Glyn Davies and Steve Cook against B. George and S. Jones. From the start you could see this was going to be a scrappy affair, and this proved the case, as Steve and Glyn were kept quiet, eventually losing by five points to leave Neyland with their noses in front by one.
The third frame saw the singles of Mark Cleevely against R. Brock, and this was the one where the match was essentiaslly won and lost. Mark opened up with a 28-point break and continued to pot well throughout. He extended his lead with just about every shot, and at the end won comfortably by a healthy margin of 93-3.
The last frame saw the doubles of Dave Wooles and Martin Durham against J. Lewis and H. Webber. With Tenby 92 points up, this frame should have been a formality, but the Tenby pair made hard work of it and eventually lost by 26 points.
