At the May meeting of the Pembrokeshire Prospectors Society, members were given a very interesting talk by Terry John on Medieval Pembrokeshire, and land ownership and management in the Lamphey area since the Normans.
Finds of the month competition winners were: coins pre-1649 (Charles I shilling, 1625-1649) - Phil Jenkins; coins 1649 onwards (gold George II half-guinea, 1755) - Ken Lunn; ancient artefacts (medieval seal matrix, 13/14C) - Steve Richards; modern finds (silver thimble, 1901) - John Rees; finds outside Pembs. (1st century Celtic eepaticcus silver unit) - Kevin Higgs; club search (medieval seal matrix, 13/14 century) - Steve Richards.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, June 2, at the Cricket Club, Dale Road, Haverfordwest, when Mark Lodwick from the National Museum of Wales, will be attending and identifying artefacts for members.
