At the September meeting of the Pembrokeshire Prospectors Society, members were entertained with a very interesting talk by Margaret Burnett, of the Shalom House Trust Hospice. Afterwards, the club's chairman presented her with a cheque on behalf of the Prospectors Society. One of the society's members recently came to the aid of a young lady who had lost a gold ring of great sentimental value which had belonged to her great-grandfather and engraved with his coat of arms. On the second day of searching the beach at Cym-yr-Eglwys, to the great delight of everyone concerned, the ring was found over nine inches down in the sand. Finds of the Month winners were as follows: Coins 1649 onwards - George III half-crown/George III shilling (found together) by Bernard Williams; Ancient artefacts -Medieval pot lid, Josie Thomas; Modern Finds - Gilt Livery Button, Picton Castle, Jack Tree. The next meeting will be on Thursday, October 7, at 8 pm, at the Cricket Club, Dale Road, Haverfordwest.
