The Pembrokeshire Ladies' football squad travelled to North Wales last Sunday to play against the North Wales representative squad.
Pembrokeshire expected this to be a tough match, as they were missing a few vital players, but all the girls rose to the occasion and battled hard to take control of the game from the kick-off.
Marie Davies made good runs down the right, sending a quality ball into the goalmouth for the lone striker Leanne to flick past the 'keeper into the net.
The Pembrokeshire girls kept their concentration as North Wales tried to fight back, but could not gain the chance to level the score, due to a good battling midfield of Cassie Bennett, Emma Rowell, and Nicola Aston. Rachel Walters, Emma Simmons, Imelde Rossi and Katie Roscoe were also solid in defence, leaving Jane comfortable in goal.
Another goal came later on from Sara Roberts, with a shot deflecting off the 'keeper into the net, putting Pembrokeshire into a comfortable lead.
In the second half of the match, a few changes to the formation were made.
North Wales wanted this match and fought back strongly to compete with the high standards of the Pembrokeshire side, and this enabled them to score their only goal of the match.
Making a couple of substitutions, the Pembrokeshire girls challenged well for the ball, with Lucy making some good tackles, and with just 15 minutes remaining, a goal was scored by Laura Richards's right foot into the bottom right-hand corner of the net.
All of the Pembrokeshire girls put in a great effort and performance during the game, resulting in a 3-1 victory.
