The Pembrokeshire Half Marathon and 10k runs, on Sunday, September 24, are filling up fast, according to the organisers, Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club. Both races take in some fantastic coastal and rural views. Based in the tranquil village of Dale, the routes head out towards St. Ann's Head before returning to the village, with the half marathon then heading out on a long loop around Marloes, making for a challenging and hilly course. The Pembrokeshire Half Marathon is part of the regional Inter-Club Championships held to promote running events, and it will be a highly competitive event for serious runners. However, both races are aimed at those who simply enjoy running or a challenge and want to have some fun -in fact power walkers are encouraged to take part in the 10k! The club is using the race to raise funds for the Bucketful of Hope Appeal in memory of a former member, Adam Evans-Thomas. Adam, despite suffering with leukaemia for 10 years, was an active member of Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club before he sadly passed away at the early age of 35. The appeal aims to raise funds for Ward 10, Withybush Hospital, and the new Bone Marrow Unit at the Heath Hospital, Cardiff. The first male and female finishers of the half marathon will receive the Adam Evans-Thomas perpetual trophy. The closing date for postal entries is Friday, September 1. As well as having a guaranteed entry, all entries received by this date will receive a limited edition race T-shirt which will not be available after this date. For those with internet access, all race information, including entry forms, a race pack and route maps, is available on the Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club website: http://www.pembrokeshire-tri.org.uk">www.pembrokeshire-tri.org.uk.
