The 2020 Pembrokeshire ‘Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride’ which took place from Saundersfoot over the weekend was a little different with riders asked to ride solo.
All riders setting off on Sunday (September 27) were asked to comply with social distancing restrictions.
The focus of the event is to bring riders from all around the world together, for a common cause of men’s mental health and Prostate cancer.
Riders are connected globally by the love of motorcycling and the cause.
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was founded in Sydney, Australia, by Mark Hawwa.
It was inspired by a photo of TV Show Mad Men’s Don Draper astride a classic bike and wearing his finest suit.
Mark decided a themed ride would be a great way of connecting niche motorcycle enthusiasts and communities while raising funds to support the men in our lives.
The focus is on gentlemen who have been dealt a tough hand in life. In particular, raising funds for cutting-edge research into prostate cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention programs, as part of our mission to support men’s health globally.
These funds are invested by Movember, which is the world’s largest men’s health organisation. 510,000 men die from suicide globally each year.
That’s one every minute and Prostate cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in men. Movember is the largest funder of prostate cancer programs in the world.
These Distinguished Gentlemen from Pembrokeshire set off from Saundersfoot and rode through Tenby, Wisemans Bridge, Amroth and Pendine in their ‘Dapper Dress’.
The ‘Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride’ carries the slogan ‘Ride Dapper and they certainly carried off that look!
