Ask the expert - wedding transport: Wedding transport is an important part of the day. Here Darren and Gemma Mason, of Top Class Cars, share important transport information so that brides and grooms arrive in style.
Would you recommend that brides and grooms book wedding transport?
Of course. Wedding transport, whether cars, horse and carriage or other mode, symbolises the start of the wedding. Brides and their bridesmaids spend all morning getting themselves ready and when they see their transport arrive it gets them excited that soon they will be making a last journey as a single person and travelling to their wedding and their future. It is a very special journey and brides or grooms deserve to travel in style and be treated like a royalty. It’s a journey when dads give words of advice to their daughters and it’s made extra special when they are calm and being chauffeur driven. Also, after the ceremony, the bride and groom get valuable time together and often it’s the only time just the two of them get before the reception.
Why is it important to book wedding cars with a company rather than using family cars?
When you book wedding cars with a reputable company, you get more than just a nice car. You get the full chauffeur service, which helps the day run smoothly and puts a bride at ease. We deal with timings, assist the bride, work closely with your photographer and videographer and, of course, ensure you arrive in true style!
A bride and groom who put their trust in people who do weddings week in week out reap the benefits on their wedding day; after all, it is the wedding professionals who agonise over attention to detail and great service. In addition, wedding car owners are often car enthusiasts, so you also have the reassurance that cars are well-maintained, insured and the company will have public liability.
What can a bride and groom and their bridal party expect from Top Class Cars?
We offer a professional, friendly wedding car service from beginning to end. From the first point of contact, initial booking, finalising arrangements and the wedding day itself, we ensure that we are there for the bride and groom. Our cars are of the highest standard, offering choice by having genuine vintage cars, classic cars, modern cars and more unusual vehicles. We also offer package deals as brides often require a second car for their attendants, so we give additional car discounts.
What cars do you currently have in your fleet?
We have two genuine vintage 1929 Reo Flying Clouds named Woody and Betty; Woody named after its amazing
wooden-spoked wheels and Betty for the basket trunk which she carries on the back. With only about 80 left worldwide of this make and model, these two Reos are the only two in the UK and truly are special. We also have two classic Daimler Limousines, which make a beautiful bridal car and are also ideal to transport bridesmaids as they take seven passengers. A Morris Minor convertible named Mabel is certainly a fabulous little car for those who wish to have something a little different and for a modern bride we have a silver Chrysler 300 and limo bus. We also have a Chevrolet Open Tourer, a Mercedes and a Ford Model Y Hot Rod.
Is there anything new for future brides?
Yes, this year we introduced ‘Elsie,’ our superb iconic American 1956 Buick Century, finished in stunning blue and white, with period white wall tyres and the most fantastic chrome bumpers and trims. Elsie is fitted with its original 5.3 litre V8 which has lovely grumble. This bold car certainly turns heads and makes an entrance.
Also new this year is our Starline Limo Bus. This top spec, fully-licensed, 16-seater party limo bus, complete with the latest modern karaoke system, TV screens and colour changing laser lighting, is an innovation to limo transport. This ultimate modern bus is amazing for hen parties and nights out and certainly gets everyone in the party mood!
And something to wow the guests - an ice cream van?
Yes, we have ‘Bluebelle’, our vintage themed ice-cream van that serves wedding guests luxury ice-cream and traditional sweets. The van has been lovingly restored by ourselves specifically for weddings and, with its pretty bunting and vintage decor, it is a talking point at weddings and it is often unexpected by guests and everyone loves ice-cream! Bluebelle can serve outside the church or venue and day or evening. It helps the day run smoothly, as it often serves when the bride and groom are off having photos, or bridging the lull between day finishing and evening guests arriving. Not forgetting the fantastic photo opportunities - the bride and groom are welcome to come on board for photos.
Do you provide transport for anything other than weddings?
Yes, we also own Narberth Mini Bus Travel and operate a fleet of minibuses and also a 37-seat luxury coach. So, as well as being able to transport guests to and from weddings, we also do airport runs, days out, pub tours etc.
How important is it to book early?
To get the car that you want for your wedding, we suggest you book once you have set a date and booked the reception; that way you avoid disappointment. Each car will only do one wedding per day, so if you know what you want, you need to act to secure the car for your wedding. Finer details, like where you would like to go for photos, can then be arranged closer to the big day.
Have you won any awards?
Yes, we are proud to have been voted Best Wedding Transport in Wales at the Welsh National Wedding Awards.
Lastly, what part of your job gives you the most satisfaction?
We work hard to ensure that a wedding day is special. From restoring and maintaining the cars to a high standard, meeting and getting to know the brides and grooms and providing a friendly, yet professional service. Knowing that brides and grooms are happy with the part we have played in their big day gives us the most satisfaction. We love our job!
So where can brides and grooms see your vehicles?
Well this time last year we moved the business to Llawhaden, near Narberth, where we now have the room to showcase our range of beautiful wedding cars. Couples can book an appointment to view the full fleet of vehicles in a friendly and relaxed environment and meet us in person. We will also be attending local wedding fayres in the autumn where couples can see a selection of our cars. We look forward to meeting our future brides and grooms.
