Meet Sandra Patching - Holistic Massage Therapist: How did you become interested in massage?
Initially I studied Reflexology, back in 2002, and practised it more as a hobby on family, friends and the local villagers. Then about 10 years ago a massage therapist contacted me to do a Reflexology treatment on him. Afterwards he asked if I would be interested in doing reciprocal treatments so we could help each other. From that moment I was a massage convert. It was amazing. I was energised, calm, had a sense of inner peace and well-being.
Two years ago, my full-time job was becoming difficult for me to fulfil, so I studied Holistic Massage Therapy, Shiatsu and Reiki. With encouragement and a massive leap of faith, here I am!
What does Holistic mean?
Holistic derives from the Greek word ‘holo’ which means ‘whole.’ And as the name suggests, massage treats the body and mind as a whole, rather than treating individual parts, promoting the body to self-heal mentally and physically.
What can massage do for you?
A single treatment can be profoundly calming and relaxing. Regular treatments have numerous benefits. Improved sleeping patterns, a reduction in stress, anxiety and levels of depression. Pain relief. The skin’s tone and appearance are improved, as are circulation and digestion. The body and mind-coping mechanism is enhanced, allowing you to deal more efficiently with the rigours of everyday life. You are happier in general.
What can massage do for the bride and groom?
The journey on the wedding road can be very stressful, with all the organising it entails. Both parties are, not surprisingly, a little anxious. It’s a big step to take.
So experiencing a deeply relaxing massage two or three days before the big day will leave them with a sense of calm and inner peace, allowing them to enjoy their very special day even more.
When the day is over and the honeymoon is becoming a distant memory, reality hits home. A massage could lift their spirits and put them back on the road to normality.
What do you offer the bride and groom?
I can do the treatment in the comfort of their own home, or in the calm surroundings of my therapy room in Tenby. I have gift vouchers that friends or family may wish to purchase as a wedding gift, or a pre-marital relaxation treatment. The bride and groom could also use them as bridesmaid/best man gifts.
Purchase two or more gifts and receive 10% off the total cost. Please visit my website for treatment and prices www.toptotoetherapy.co.uk
