Prospective students have the chance to find out more about studying at Pembrokeshire College at our next Virtual Open Evening taking place on Wednesday, February 24, from 5 to 7 pm.
Offering school leavers the broadest range of post-16 courses in the county including 27 A-levels, Apprenticeships, Vocational Diplomas and Traineeships, whether you have ambitions to go to university or straight into work, the various qualifications on offer are each designed to suit different levels of ability and future career ambitions; meaning there really is something for everyone.
From the comfort of your own home, prospective learners and parents/guardians can watch videos about the subjects on offer, see some of the facilities and hear from current students before speaking directly to College staff to have your questions answered.
As well as curriculum staff who can talk in-depth about the subjects you may be interested in, there will also be a wide range of support staff available who can answer your questions on topics such as additional support, learning bilingually, student finance or special transport. If you’re unsure about what to do next, our advice and guidance team will also be available to offer impartial advice about the best course for you as well as Careers Wales.
When you visit the Virtual Open Evening, take the time to look at everything on offer, whilst A-levels and Apprenticeships are broadly understood, Vocational Diplomas are less well known but can provide a route to both university or into employment, so are a great option for those who already know the industry sector they would like to wok in in the future.
Diplomas are offered in a broad range of subjects including: animal care; applied science; art; automotive engineering; beauty therapy; brickwork; business; carpentry; childcare; computing; construction & architectural design; countryside & environment; creative media production; electrical installations; electronic engineering; fashion & textiles; food science; graphic design; hairdressing; health science; health & social care; hospitality & catering; marine engineering; mechanical engineering; music performance & production; performance & production arts; plumbing; public services; sport; travel & tourism.
The diploma programmes are taught in industry standard facilities including engineering and construction workshops, recording studios, commercial hair and beauty salons, industrial kitchens and restaurant, the merlin theatre, extensive mac suites, a photography studio, well-equipped labs and automotive workshops plus much more.
The programmes are taught by teaching staff who have a wealth of industry experience which they are able to pass directly to learners ensuring they gain the practical skills that can lead to future employment or further study.
Many of these programmes also have strong links with local employers such as Folly Farm, Hywel Dda University Health Board, The Retreats Group, Dragon LNG, St Davids Assemblies, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and many, many more who provide guest lectures and work placements.
Whilst the Virtual Open Evening is not the same as being able to come onto campus and take a look around, we hope it will enable you to explore the broad range of courses on offer and allow you to gather enough information to make an informed decision about your next steps.
If following the event, you are still unsure, our advice and guidance team are offering 1-1 guidance appointments online to help you to discover what it is that you might like to do in the future and to explore all the options available to set you on your journey to getting there. Guidance appointments can be booked at any time via our website.
