Pembroke Town Council has approved a decrease in its precept for the forthcoming financial year.
At a recent meeting, councillors set their budget for 2009/10 at £129,050, which represents a £7,940 (5.8 per cent) reduction on the precept for 2008/09.
Hugh Colley, town clerk, explained: "Given the current economic climate, it is very difficult to forecast expenditure, but the council has identified a number of areas where it believes that savings can be made."
The local precept component of council tax in respect of a Band 'D' property within Pembroke for 2009/10 will be £45.14, compared with £48.24 in 2008/09.
