Pembroke Power Station has been reaching out to local students through RWE's 'enthuse' project, which aims to develop the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) skills of 12-14 year old students. Two volunteers from Pembroke Power Station visited Milford Haven School, inviting students to take part in a range of engaging activities that tested both their team skills and innovation. Head teacher Mr. Francis said: "The series of activities challenged the students and inspired healthy competition, creating an event that was both educational and informative." The scheme encourages students to be creative in the core subjects of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Some 100 students took part in the event at Milford Haven School, which goes towards their Welsh Baccalaureate. Andrew Morgan, power station manager, said: "These events really inspire young students to make their own choices and express themselves, while challenging stereotypes of engineering and related professions. We are opening young eyes to the fantastic and diverse opportunities offered by the power industry and engineering." So far, over 14,000 pupils across England and Wales have taken part in an Enthuse event since its initiation in 2007.
