Division One

Somewhat predictably it looks as if it will be a three horse race for the First Division title although Neyland have replaced one of the pre season favourites, Haverfordwest. In fact, Haverfordwest are still looking for their first win of the season.

At present the three current favourites Carew, Cresselly and Harfat are all locked on 94 points at the top of the table

Whitland (151-9) held on for a draw at Haverfordwest (244 all out) thanks mainly to the in form Paul Davies (61) who hit eight fours and one six, supported by another left hander Edward John (19). Spinner Clive Tucker (4-29) and all-rounder Nathan Banner (3-39) did the damage for Harfat.

A third wicket stand of 105 between Ben Field (104) an innings which included five sixes and nine fours and Simon Holliday (75) with three sixes and 10 fours provided the backbone for the Harfat innings as wickets fell to paceman David Dunfee (5-31) and spinner Paul Webb (3-49). Nathan Banner (24) was the only other batsmen to make a useful contribution.

Narberth (198-9) gave the bowlers something to defend through consistent batting from Joel Davies (39), Mike Scale (34), Ian Hughes (30) and Marc Hughes (22).

Left arm seam bowler Scott Helmich (5-26) caused most of the problems.

Carew (199-2) overcame the 45 minutes delay caused by rain to win by eight wickets. Ian Sefton with an aggressive 50 helped Nick Scourfield (102no) put on 81 for the first wicket and Tom Richards chipped in with 30.

Scourfield hit 13 fours also hit two sixes, the second of which into the rugby field brought up his century and won the match for the visitors.

Lawrenny travelled to St Ishmaels and bowled out Tish for 172. Jonathan Pawlett (53), Peter Bradshaw (24) and Andrew Williams (22) were the main contributors as everyone chipped in.

Robert Williams and Jamie Lewis each took three wickets for Lawrenny who held on by the skin of their teeth for a draw at 119-9. Andrew Harries and James Buckle both scored 35 as Andrew Palmer took 5-26 for Tish.

Herbrandston were dismissed for 119 away to Neyland as Andrew Miller took 4-32. Jonty Bennett (29), Ryan Davies (21) and Dean John (20) each made a decent start but no batsman went on to make a significant score.

Neyland won comfortably by nine wickets with Sean Hannon (52no) and Paul Murray (45) having an opening stand of 80.

Exactly 400 runs were scored at Cresselly in an exciting match which ended in a nerve tingling tie.

A depleted Saundersfoot team reached 200-5 with Sam Franklin. (60) and Ian Poole (41) giving the visitors a sold start with a partnership of 68 and Franklin adding 95 for the second wicket with James Caine (54).

When the last ball of the match was bowled by Sam Franklin, the batsman Stefan Jenkins need two runs to win the game for Cresselly. Only one run was scampered so Cresselly finished on 200-8.

Earlier, Three left handers Simon Cole (40), Damian Arthur (38) and Julian Arthur (24) had laid the foundations for the victory bid.

Division Two

Cresselly Seconds 134-6) had a four wickets win away to Hook (133 all out) Nick Davies (52no), Alex Bayley (26) and Ryan Lewis in his first game of the season scored 20.

Lewis was unable to score the hundred he had promised his team mates but he did deliver with the ball as he took 6-19.

Brennan Lay, Tom Blaxland (25) and Harry Morris (23) got the bulk of the runs for Hook.

Haverfordwest Seconds (177-9) had the better of a drawn match away to Carew Seconds (158-7)

The visitors recovered from 95-7 as Nigel Delaney finished on 47no and number nine James Morris had a defiant 47. James Hinchcliffe and Like Hicks each ad three wickets for the Carew team who were restricted to 158-7 after Haydn Shapcott (32), Brain Hall (31) and the consistent David Rees (21) had put their team in with a chance of victory.

Owain Evans (64) batted well with 12 fours in the Whitland Seconds innings of 164- 9 at home to Pembroke Dock (167-7), as Peter Kingdom (5-41) led the Dock bowling attack.

Luc Barford (53) had support from young Scott Griffiths (46no) and Nick Daley (39) as the Dock gained their first win of the season with three overs to spare, despite the efforts of swing bowler Steve Vale (3-24).

Division Three

Carew Thirds (136 all out) lost by 66 runs away to Fishguard. David Haynes (79), Darren John (25) and Owen Duggan (26) provided the backbone to the total.

Darren Thomas followed up his tight spell of 2-11 from nine overs to lead the Carew challenge with 65 including twelve fours and one six but apart from Lewis Hicks (20) lacked support so that the Carew team settled for a draw.

Crymych are taking Division Three by storm and with a comfortable nine wickets win at home to Lamphey, have built up a 22 points lead at the top of the table over second placed Pembroke.

Lamphey (131 all out) frittered away a good start having been 98-3 at one stage. Rhys Davies (6-33) bowled at a lively pace and took wickets at regular intervals after Nick Shelmerdine (43) and Rob Mathias (33) had provided a platform for the remaining batsmen.

Rhys Davies with a swashbuckling innings of 45 completed a fine all round display, backed up by Sam Kurtz (43no) and Rhydian Wyn (30no),

Steve James (49) and Shaun Jones (35) were the leading batsmen for Johnston Seconds (169 all out) aided by 32 extras at home to Narberth Seconds (76 all out).

Although teenager Owen Richards (20) resisted, Gary James (6-20) and Steve Jenkins (3-30) bowled the Johnston team to victory by a margin of 93 runs.

Kilgetty were bowled out for 109 away to Pembroke (111-3). Opener Steve Flook (31) played soundly but Anton John, Sean Powell and Jonathan Rogers each took two inexpensive wickets to trigger a collapse.

Pembroke recovered from 16-3 to win by seven wickets through an unbroken fourth wicket partnership between Sean Powell (51no) and Phil Hay (37no).

Although Steve Smith scored 23, no other batsman reached 20 for Llechryd (100 all out) as Chris Garrett (3-26) was the pick of the visiting bowlers, in reply to a Llanrhian total of 127 all out,

It was a disappointing batting display by Llechryd as John Curran, skipper Graham Keen and Leighton Robinson had each picked up two wickets to dismiss the visitors fairly cheaply after Ben Jones (45) and Richard Reed (23) had laid the foundations for a bigger total.

Division Four

Lawrenny Seconds (79 all out) lost by 85 runs at home to Division Four leaders Haverfordwest Thirds (181-7). Paul Maggs (55), Jasper Holmes (25) and former Lawrenny player Mark Cross (32) were the principal run scorers as Steven Cole took 3-14.

Cole also top scored with 20, all in boundaries along with Lance Osbourne, as Simon Williams picked up 5-24 for the visitors.

In a most enjoyable match Cresselly Thirds (166-7) had a crack at chasing the Hundleton total of 181-7.

The visitors to the St Florence ground owed much to Jonathan Williams (102 with fourteen fours and one six).

In the Cresselly innings James Richards (39), Steve Wilkins (31) and Harry Thomas (26) made important contributions.

Division Five

Division Five leaders St Clears (121 all out) had Whitland Thirds on the rocks with nine batsmen back in the Pavilion before the home team had reached 50, but an unbroken last wicket partnership of 47 between two 15 year olds Jack Bowen (28no) and Geraint Phillips (16no) saved the day to secure a draw on 90-9.

Nathan Evans (4-32) was the leading wicket- taker for the Saints, He had also top scored earlier with 27, supported by James Ingleton with 26 as Hefin Thomas (6-19) carved up the Saints batting order.

Second placed Pembroke Seconds (137-7) collected their third scalp of the season with a three wickets win away to Herbrandston Seconds (136 all out)

Although Ian Abbot (41), Sean Williams (32) and Paul Nicholas (30) were each in the runs, the innings stumbled as Josh Reed-Harrison took 6-26.

It was a collective effort by the visitors to attain a winning score of 137-7 as the experienced Colin Kaijaks held things together with his innings of 38, as Paul Nicholas took 3-13 for Herbie.

Third placed St Florence (118-6) won by five wickets away to Haverfordwest Fourths (117-8).

Tim Moss (37no) and Nigel Jenkins (32) did the hard work in the Harfat total as Justin Evans (4-28) and Ashley Smith (3-36) chipped the wickets away.

All rounder Ashley Smith (68 with 10 fours) dominated the Saints' reply and his colleagues did enough to get there in the end.

Narberth Thirds (112 all out) failed by just six runs to overtake a Fishguard Seconds total of 118-9. James Wade (4-20) and Sean O'Connor (3-21) did not enable batsmen to settle apart from Ceri Davies (21) and Huw Davies (19),

Earlier wrist spinner Dan Hughes (4-14) and Jordan Williams (2-21) had bowled well as Ben Ridgeway (44), Sean O'Connor (22) and John De Groot (21) put runs on the board.

Llechryd Seconds (172 all out) were indebted to 15 years old Gwion Howell (63) for the bulk of the runs, with some assistance from David Spencer (28) together with skipper Tom Beard and Iwan Jones who both scored 20 away to Hundleton Seconds (173-7) . The McNiffe brothers Stuart (4-34) and Daniel (4-26) took eight of the wickets.

Hundleton Seconds won by three wickets with Stuart McNiffe (50) and Steve Eagles (45) the batting heroes as Tom Beard (3-22) led the Llechryd efforts to take wickets.

Division Six leaders Pembroke Dock Seconds reached 241-8 at home to Crymych Seconds with Luke Murray (41), Steve Alford (38), James Olyott (33no), John Davies (32) and Billy Wood (30) keeping the scoreboard ticking along. Alan Luke (2-22) and Thomas Lewis (2-13) picked up four of the wickets,

Neil Hallett (3-20) in his first game of the season was the most effective Dock bowler as Crymych were dismissed for 150 after a brave effort in reply.

Billy Gray hit 11 fours in his innings of 52 and received good backing from Alan Luke (27) and Alun Gowman (22).

Chris Hawkes (56 including 10 fours), Jamie Morgan (50no), Jack Franklin (46) and Geoff Marsh (26no) were all in good form for Saundersfoot Seconds (224-6) at home to St Ishmaels Seconds (177-7).

Rob Cockburn (36) was the only batsman to score more than 20 but there were 32 extras,

Chris Hawkes (3-13) had a productive spell for Saundersfoot).

Division Six

Division Six leaders Pembroke Dock Seconds reached 241-8 at home to Crymych Seconds with Luke Murray (41), Steve Alford (38), James Olyott (33no), John Davies (32) and Billy Wood (30) keeping the scoreboard ticking along. Alan Luke (2-22) and Thomas Lewis (2-13) picked up four of the wickets,
