The Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir held their annual meeting recently at which their president, Mr. Phil Thompson, expressed his pride at being associated with the choir and complimented them on their most successful Jubilee Year in 2002 in which they had continued their high standard of choral singing and charitable service to the community.

He made special mention of their four choir performances with the band of the Welsh Guards at the Carew Pavilion in October when, along with Haverfordwest, Tenby and Whitland Male Voice Choirs, they gave the 1,000 people present in the audience a night to remember.

Mr. Frank Harries, the choir chairman, in making his comments on the past year, reiterated the words of the president and extended his grateful thanks to the musical team, the officers, committee and choristers who had made the past year such a memorable one.

Mr. David Gwynn, giving his conductor's report, said that a lot had been achieved in the past year and that in 2003 with 18 firm concerts and a three-day visit to sing in Surrey, there would be a consolidation of the choir's repertoire and the introduction of a number of new and challenging pieces.

He thanked, in particular, Christine Lloyd, the deputy conductor and choir accompanist, for the support and service she had given, and also Alyson and Jenny Griffiths for their part in musical accompaniment and rehearsal support.

The officers for the coming choir year are: president, Mr. Phil Thompson; chairman, Frank Harries; vice-chairman; Peter Oliver; secretary, Phil Lloyd; assistant secretary, Glyn Smith; treasurer, Henry Johnson; conductor, David Gwynn; assistant conductor and choir accompanist, Christine Lloyd; librarian and accompanist, Alyson Griffiths; social secretary, Sam Thomas; choir marshall, Fred Roblin; press secretary, George Lewis; senior chorister, Owen Jones.
