A Pembroke-based band is travelling to Germany this July, representing our county as part of a visit to Pembroke's twin- town of Bergen. Castle Brass, a community initiative that nurtures the talents of musicians of all ages, gives many people the opportunity to learn to play a wind or brass instrument. The band runs a successful programme of loaning instruments to budding musicians, encouraging its members to take part in exchange programmes and trips to various concerts, including the Cardiff Proms. With a contribution from Milford Haven Port Authority's Community Support Committee, the band will be travelling to Germany for its latest exchange trip with a new addition - a euphonium that will replace the band's existing instrument that is over 85 years old! Said Val McInally, of Castle Brass: "Replacing ageing instruments is vital to the band, as loaning equipment to musical beginners is at the heart of what we do. The support of Milford Haven Port Authority comes at a time when 31 of our members are preparing for the trip to Bergen - a great opportunity to try out the new euphonium." Castle Brass meets weekly on Saturday mornings at Pembroke's C1 Community Association Centre, where people of all ages are welcome. http://www.pembrokecastlebrass.org.uk">www.pembrokecastlebrass.org.uk
