Quiz week four saw the Naval Club setting a well-contested quiz with the match of the round at the First & Last. The evening's visitors were the Station B and with both teams holding unbeaten records a close match was on the cards and this certainly proved to be the case. The visitors took an early lead, but at the interval, the home side had pulled this back and led going into the picture round, but there was never any more than a handful of points between the sides and this small gap fluctuated between the teams through the second half, but at the end of round six, the scores showed the Station B had snatched victory to win by just one point. At the Alma, the A & B sides clashed in another close game when the A side got off to a storming start but after some really 'lucky' guesses by the B team, the lead had shortened and the outcome hinged on the last question -Shakespeare! and as Jan had studied English at school she volunteered! Fortunately for the A side, she could not remember the Hamlet Castle (Elsinore) so victory went to the Alma A by just five points. The Charlton A were the second team on the night to lose their unbeaten tag going down to a visiting, resurgent Cosh Brewery, whilst on the other hand, the Charlton B made the trip to St. Govan's to play their A side and finally got off the mark in another close contest winning by just six points. The golf club finally made it to their night's venue at the Oak, but finding little joy in the result, also losing by six points. In the final match of the round, the Station A hosted the B side from St. Govan's and led from the start to take a convincing victory with the round's highest score, stay unbeaten and move three points clear at the top of the table on 12 points. In second place on nine points are the Alma A, First & Last, Charlton A and the Station B who also remain unbeaten and have a game in hand.
The week's results were: First & Last 78 Station B 79; Charlton A 69 Cosh Brewery 83; Alma A 81 Alma B 76; St. Govan's A 73 Charlton B 79; Station A 88 St. Govan's B 62 and Oak 79 Golf Club 73.
