Firstly, can I apologise for the new fixture list, Revision 3, I appreciate that some teams have a long run of either home or away games, but unfortunately I could do nothing about this.
The Alma B were the question setters for this week's quiz and the results showed some close matches. The Alma A entertained St. Govan's A team and it was neck-and-neck all the way through the quiz, with the home side just keeping their necks in front to win. Come the last question, the Alma led 74-69 and Mallika was bravely 'volunteered' by her team to answer the question on 'Dance'! Well you're the only woman in the team were the comments, a brave try, but none of the team members knew the answer, so the Alma won by five points, still a very enjoyable game.
At the Station, the Oak were the visitors to play the B side, and after a close first round, the homesters ran out comfortable winners with the night's highest score, only because the Oak went for six-pointers in round six. However, Gill from the Oak knew the Twist was the first 'No Partner' contact in 'Dance'.
Another close encounter took place at the Golf Club where again the match went down to the wire, the final outcome resting on the last question, with the spoils going to the visiting Charlton A, who maintain their unbeaten start.
Another team to remain unbeaten are this year's surprise package, the First & Last, who travelled to St. Govan's Inn to play the B side, and in yet another close tie, came away with a four-point win. The Station A, now to be known as the 'Come Back Kings', for the third time in as many matches went into round six behind yet again, this time by only nine points, and once more snatched victory from the jaws of defeat at the Charlton at the expense of their B team.
In the remaining match, Cosh Brewery made the journey to the Naval Club and returned home with the first win of the season after a 10-point victory.
Results for the night show how good a quiz was set and were as follows: Naval Club 64 Cosh Brewery 74; Station B 80 Oak 65; Charlton B 62 Station A 66; St. Govan's B 65 First & Last 69; Alma A 74 St. Govan's A 69 and Golf Club 59 Charlton A 64.
These results mean that after three rounds of the quiz, the leaders are last year's champions Station A, the First & Last and the Charlton A on nine points, with the Alma A, St. Govan's A and the Station B, who have only played two games, on six points. Positions are decided on the 'for' points scored in the quiz rounds; the Station A's lead is by a slender three points.
