After the latest round of the Pembroke and Pembroke Dock quiz league, the shock result saw the improving Station A travel to league leaders Alma B and come away with a win in a close run match by seven points, thus doing their B team a huge favour.
They were at home to Cosh Brewery. They led all the way and with a 13-point advantage after round four were going well. Round five saw the visitors claw back four points and with Roger's six-point answer, Cosh looked set to come back from the dead and needed three points from the last question to draw, but bravely went for the win.
Rationing of what ended in May 1957 was the question to which neither side knew the answer. It was petrol (after the Suez Crisis), so the Station B's win kept them in second place and closed the gap on the Alma B to three points.
At the Charlton, the B team's game against the Alma A came down to the last question in round six when Rob was the hero, securing a three-point win for the home team.
In another close game at the Con Club, visitors St. Govan's lost by just four points, while the First and Last suffered the biggest defeat of the evening, losing to the week's top scorers from the Naval Club.
In the night's final match, the Oak kept up their run, defeating the Charlton A side comfortably. So after the final matches before the turnaround, Alma B have 27 points, Station B 24, with the Station A moving up to third with 21, ahead of the Naval Club and Oak on 19, both Charlton teams and Cosh Brewery having 18.
Results for the week were; Oak 74 Charlton A 61; First and Last 59 Naval Club 85; Con Club 68 St. Govan's 64; Charlton B 75 Alma A 72; Alma B 63 Station A 70; Station B 82 Cosh Brewery 79.
