The Pembroke and Pembroke Dock LVA Quiz reach its season's conclusion at the Station Inn on Sunday with the cup competition followed by the presentation of both cup and league trophies.

Ten teams turned out for the eight rounds of a quiz which appeared to go down well with all the players present.

From the outset, the eventual winners from the Brewery Inn, Cosheston, took the lead and never relinquished it, eventually winning by a four-point margin.

The runners-up spot was never clear cut, with five teams chasing the winners and only four points separated these teams after the final question.

Had the Naval Club not had such a poor start, they would surely have been threatening the winners, but in the end missed out on runners-up spot to the Charlton B by just one point.

At the conclusion of the quiz, after congratulating the winners and thanking all those who had taken part in this year's quiz league, LVA chairman Max Shankland presented the cup and individual trophies to the winning captain Roger Howell and team members Keith Bell, Jim Phillips and Steve Van Rhyn and the runners-up trophies to the Charlton B.

Max then called the Cosh team back to receive the league champions shield and individual trophies, with the runners-up trophies going to the Station B side.

Everyone then enjoyed the excellent buffet put on by the Station Inn.

David Gledhill would like to thank all the people who made up the teams this year and the captains for religiously returning the scorecards, Debbie at the Alma for taking the telephone results which meant he could send in his reports to the press early, the LVA for its support and supplying the trophies, Don at the Station for the food and Carolyn for collating the scores on cup night.

"I look forward to seeing you all next year and any new pubs or clubs that wish to enter provided they are affiliated to the LVA are welcome," he said.
