Pembroke Castle was the magnificent setting last Saturday morning for a service of thanksgiving organised by Pembroke Town Council. The 948 (Haverfordwest and City of St Davids) Squadron Air Training Corps, paraded down the Main Street, together with a troop from the Royal Signals. The parade marshall was Clr. David Boswell. Veterans from WWII, serving members of the armed forces and Cadet organisations attended together with Honourable Robin Lewis (Lord Lieutenant of Dyfed), County Clr. Wyn Evans (vice-chair of PCC) accompanied by Alison Lee. Rev. Roger Jones officiated at the service, with lessons read by Clr. Pauline Waters (Deputy Mayor Pembroke) and Clr. Pam George (Mayor of Pembroke Dock). Prayers were read by Commander Tony Mason MBE RD* DL (Royal Naval Reserve), Major I. Ramsden (Welsh Guards Association) Mr. John Rusell (RAF Aircrew Association) and Mrs. Dilys Hanmer MBE (on behalf of the Desert Rats). Voices of Pembroke Choir also attended, leading the singing. Special thanks go to the trustees of Pembroke Castle for allowing the grounds to be used as the venue, the Voices of Pembroke Choir, Rev. Roger Jones and parade marshall David Boswell.
