Following Pembroke Swimming Club's recent success in winning the Dyfed Plate final, last Friday, the club invited Milford Haven Tigers to take part in a fun gala. The gala was an excellent opportunity for the swimmers to get back into competitive swimming after the summer holidays, as well as a chance to introduce new swimmers to the enjoyment of galas. The aim of the gala was to have fun and so it was made up of a mixture of fun races and serious events. All the swimmers really enjoyed themselves and had an excellent evening. Despite being a fun gala, there was plenty of excitement and competition between the clubs, as well as the boys and girls teams! After a lot of shouting and screaming the final results were: 1. Pembroke Girls; 2. Milford Girls; 3. Pembroke Boys; 4. Milford Boys. The Pembroke teams were as follows: Pembroke girls: Eight and under - Vicky Crawford, Suna Goodman, Jess Hathaway and Abbie Williams; Nine and under - Alice Lilley, Katherine Peatey and Leigh White; 10 and under - Cassie Gratton, Anna Morgan and Alison Sharratt. Pembroke boys: Eight and under - Zac Henry, Rowan Kettle, Elliot Mainwaring, Thomas Miller, Alex Orchard, David Radmore and Colm Tobin; Nine and under - Oliver Crawford, Dylan Hunt and Freddie Meyrick; 10 and under - Jack Goldsworthy, Selim Goodman, Ben Hathaway, Jonathan Orchard and Daniel Thomas. After the gala, the club held a fun evening with the pool inflatable. Although the gala was for the 10 and unders, lots of other club swimmers, who swim in the senior teams or those who just swim for enjoyment, joined in the fun session on the inflatable. Pembroke and District Swimming Club always welcomes new members. If you are interested in joining and are a level six swimmer (or above), go along to Pembroke Pool on a Friday club night (6 pm) to find out more! Pembroke's next gala is the RAOB Gala on Sunday, October 7, at Pembroke.
