Last week, pupils from Years 5 and 6 at Orielton CP School visited the National Museum in Cardiff to receive the Welsh Heritage Local History Award  for their work entitled: 'Hundleton Home Front 1941'.  The entry in the prize winner's booklet read as follows: Pupils undertook extensive research into the local history of Pembroke and Pembroke Dock during the Second World War.  They visited local libraries, 'surfed' the internet, interviewed two veterans, Fred and Ted, collected posters, learnt songs of the period and visited the flight tower of the former air base at Carew. They used their ICT skills to devise a touch screen quiz at four levels about aspects of the war. The pupils' cloakroom area was converted into a wartime museum/bunker with an impressive collection of artefacts and pupils' work, including writing, painting and individual projects. The research was presented in an excellent play at the local St. David's Church Hall, entitled 'The Lads Army  -  The Jones Front'. DVDs of the performance were sold to parents and the community.
