A cyclist from Pentlepoir has just completed a memorable charity ride from Holyhead to Cardiff. Paul Regimbal cycled the 254-mile route called the Lôn Las Cymru in five days, along with 12 other cyclists.

"The cycle crossed three mountain ranges and captured Wales' breathtaking scenery as the route passed through North, Mid and South Wales," explained Paul, who set out on his journey on April 15. "It is an annual event which the Bobath Children's Therapy Centre Wales in Cardiff organises. Alone I raised over £1,000 of funds towards the Centre which helps Children with Cerebral Palsy," he continued. Bobath Children's Therapy Centre Wales is a registered charity that depends on donations and the fund-raising efforts of friends and supporters. To provide a four-week block of therapy costs over £4,000, with the need to raise over £800,000 each year to run the centre and provide ongoing therapy. "I would like to say that the cycle ride was a brilliant challenge and I had an amazing time, meeting some great new people and dicovering Wales' beautiful scenery in a new way," continued Paul. "It was tough with strong winds against us on two days of our journey, but the pain in my legs was worthwhile as the money raised will help children with Cerebral Palsy in a tremendous way. "I would like to thank everybody who helped me raise the money and supported me through my training, without them I couldn't have achieved it," added Paul, who bought his bike and also most of his kit from John at Tenby Cycles. Jessica Evans, fund-raising co-ordinator at Bobath, said: "The cyclists who took part in this year's Lôn Las Challenge had an amazing time - there was a real feeling of camaraderie.  "It's a great achievement and for every mile covered they have made a real and positive difference to children in Wales who have cerebral palsy," she added. The event was sponsored by 'See Wales', 'Cardiff Bus' and 'Agoriad Water'.
