Calls were made this week for Tenby's Rectory car park to be opened during 'out-of season' holidays such as Christmas and half-term.
Speaking at Tuesday's meeting of Tenby Town Council, Clr. Mrs. Maureen Ward revealed that she had received numerous complaints from residents in the South Cliffe Street area about on-street parking.
"The situation was so bad at the weekend that the police had to come along and 'bounce' cars out of the way," she claimed.
"We are attracting a lot of visitors in what I'll call the 'out-of-season' holiday period, like this week's half-term, and I was wondering if the owners of the Rectory field, the Parochial Church Council, could be persuaded to open it up during these times," she continued.
"I know in the past that they have said that they are unable to employ staff during the off season, but with permit parking being introduced into more and more of our streets, the parking situation is not going to get any better.
"If they could open the Rectory during the out-of-season holidays it could go a long way to ease the parking problems."
Members agreed to put the matter on the agenda for their next meeting.
At the suggestion of Clr. Mickey Folland, councillors also agreed to have an informal talk with the Rector of Tenby, Canon David Jenkins, to establish the position of the PCC.
