Saturday, October 28, marked CSV Make a Difference Day, which is the flagship campaign of CSV (Community Service Volunteers), one of the largest volunteering organisations in the UK. The aim of the campaign was to encourage people to give one day of their time to volunteering for a voluntary or community group to make a difference. Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services (PAVS) staff made a difference by carrying out a day of volunteering at Mencap Stackpole Gardens, creating a bog garden surrounding a mosaic crocodile sculpture. The beautiful gardens span over six acres and are cultivated by people from the community with physical and learning difficulties. Visiting the gardens is free of charge, with the garden shop offering reasonably priced plants and freshly picked vegetables. Mencap Stackpole Gardens is signposted from Pembroke, approximately six miles towards Castlemartin. To find out about volunteering for the gardens, call Nigel on 01646 661442. If you would like to find out about other volunteering opportunities in Pembrokeshire, call PAVS on 01437 769422.
