A local councillor has stated that it is important that the standard of Tenby's beaches is kept up to scratch, after the world's largest travel site TripAdvisor named the resort's sands as number five in Britain in their first-ever Travellers' Choice Beach awards.

"I'd like to give Tenby a pat on the back for coming fifth in the UK in TripAdvisor's beach awards," said Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter at Tuesday night's meeting of Tenby Town Council.

"It's a marvellous accolade to have, but we must not let our crown slip and in light of the building work taking place at the South Beach, we must make sure that the high standard of our beaches is kept and prove we should be there in any top 10," she added.
