A PET-LOVING local has received recognition by a well-established charity for animals, for her voluntary work with them.
Sylvia Reece, of 39 Angle Village, Pembroke, received the highly commended certificate in the 'Pets As Therapy Dog and Cat of the Year 2003/4' competition, for her continuing voluntary work in the community.
The 'Pets As Therapy' registered charity, based in Middlesex, has been caring for animals for 20 years and are delighted with Sylvia's achievement.
A letter she received from director, Lena Hanen, stated: "One of the greatest pleasures I have is that I am given the opportunity to inform the finalist and highly commended PAT Dogs and Cats for this year's competition.
"This year's competition has been one of the hardest to shortlist and it is with enormous pleasure that I enclose your highly commended certificate, which we hope will go some way in showing you the value of the work you have been carrying out as a PAT visitor with your pet."
