Following a recent walkabout of Tenby with a local councillor, with the focus on parking provision and loading bays in the town, the county council's head of highways, has agreed to looking into implementing some changes.

Correspondence from the authority's Darren Thomas came before members of Tenby Town Council at their meeting on Tuesday night, with an explanation of some of the specific issues that he had had a look at, following a request from Clr. Mike Evans.

Mr. Thomas felt that possible changes in respect of the loading bays in White Lion Street would not significantly improve general parking in that area, but alterations could be implemented at the loading bays along part of the South Parade.

"We propose to designate the six places (along the South Parade) as limited waiting of 30 minutes, 8 am to 6 pm. There would still be a residual loading bay capable of use by two large delivery vehicles," explained Mr. Thomas in his letter.

"It's a partial victory; the loading bays will allow for overnight parking in that area for locals," said Clr. Evans.

"Things have improved with regards to delivery procedures too. There's been a disagreement over the past 12 months on how long those loading and unloading were being allowed to use the bays, with some being booked after 10 minutes.

"As long as they are being observed to be loading and unloading over 30 minutes, then they will get the full time," he added.
