Parking for the village of Saundersfoot continues to be a point of concern a local county councillor has admitted.
County Councillor for the south ward Cllr Chris Williams has thanked the Sports and Social Club for trying to accommodate local businesses who have struggled to find parking spaces during busy periods of late.
He also said that the Sports Club’s generous actions have helped alleviate some motorists taking to ditching their vehicles on nearby housing estates.
“Parking has been a concern for many in Saundersfoot with limited spaces available especially during busy times,” remarked Cllr Willams.
“During the May half term there was a great need for parking with the weather being exceptional.
“This proved to be the case as the sports field facilitated over 400 cars each day over the recent Bank Holiday and last Thursday they accommodated over 350 vehicles.
“Credit to the Sports Club for this and allowing the businesses in the village to benefit while also preventing negative parking all around the village on housing estates.
“Revenue raised can be ploughed back into the field and the cricket and football clubs for them to develop.
“I have worked with the former Chamber committee this last month to the benefit of the village. It was thought signage would help with parking at the sports field when the field is open.
“This signage will help promote parking and direct them, thereby stopping visitors endlessly driving around for spaces,” he added.
