Tenby town councillors have supported the request of a resident of St. Florence Parade who wants double yellow lines introduced to a section of the street to prevent motorists from parking in an area that causes obstruction.
A letter from resident Mr. Rees came before councillors at their meeting on Tuesday night, pointing out that cars parking in a space alongside one of the town wall turrets at various points in the day often caused an obstruction and danger to traffic travelling in both directions.
Mr. Rees had also written to Pembrokeshire County Council's highways department on the matter.
Responding to the letter, Deputy Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas, said that she was glad the matter had been raised as she had also put it on the agenda.
"It's an abomination and double yellow lines need to be implemented as a matter of urgency," she said, while her colleague, Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter, asked if the police could book motorists who parked there as they were causing an obstruction.
The town clerk said that the county council were aware of the matter and were planning on introducing double yellow lines on that section, but possibly not until after the summer.
